"RAW HORN" launch : Sunglasses spawned from 1970's icons.

TODAY (4.July 2020) E.Gucewicz studio launches the first piece from our first collection : "RAW HORN" [click here to see the collection] a series of eyewear inspired by the most flamboyant characters of what we reckon was the most glamourous decade : the 1970’s - from Aristotle Onassis to David Hockney, to Patti Smith, to Andy Warhol and to the divinely performative Iggy Pop.

We have created 5 different works, each handmade to a limited edition of 5 copies: They are called "Tight Jeans", "Long Hair", "Bare Feet", "Flat Beer" and "Expensive Tastes". Each work is based on the eyewear worn by the icons of the 1970s, recreated according to modern technical specifications and hand-carved in real horn.

One limited edition work. will be revealed every week for five weeks this summer. Today we laucnhed “TIGHT JEANS” a work inspired by a classic pair worn by Andy Warhol during the Studio 54 era, with ‘denim blue’ lenses, after all, Andy did request he was buried in his blue jeans.

The horn material itself is an ethically sourced by-product, making it a surprisingly sustainable medium. As a medium it was chosen not only because of it’s inherent luxurious and aesthetic value, but also because horn is more natural and therefore neutral and less likely to irritate skin than conventional eyewear plastics. For more information about our horn sourcing please read more here

For this project all aspects of the creative process - the design and manufacture of the frames, the handmade cases and even the state-of-the-art sustainable packaging - are developed by E.Gucewicz studio who makes each work with the help of his assistants at his studio in the southern Scottish hills. Please see here to find out more about what our studio can do.
