Collection (Summer 2020) :
E.Gucewicz studio have just launched a collection of sunglasses spawned from the 1970’s.
"RAW HORN" is a inspired by the most flamboyant characters of what we reckon was the most glamorous decade - from Aristotle Onassis and Andy Warhol to Patti Smith, David Hockney and the divine Iggy Pop.
We have 5 different works, each handmade to a limited edition of 5 copies: "Tight Jeans", "Long Hair", "Bare Feet", "Flat Beer" and "Expensive Tastes". Each work is based on the eyewear worn by one of these icons of the 1970s, recreated according to modern technical specifications and yet hand-carved in timeless real horn.
One limited edition work (shown below) will be revealed every week for five weeks this summer.
All aspects of the creative process - the design and manufacture of the frames, the handmade cases, the state-of-the-art sustainable packaging - are developed by Edward Gucewicz, who makes each work with the help of his assistants at his studio in the southern Scottish hills.

People say beware, but I just don’t care ~ words are just words and regulations, and in some glorious way my straggly, beautiful long hair proves it. “LONG HAIR” is a Patti Smith inspired work that sees everything just a little bit too clearly and lights up faces up with raw and naked joy.

“Oh you’re so artistic with your ‘BARE FEET’ and paint-smattered smock!” A David Hockney-inspired "BARE FEET" glasses frame, with an appropriately muddy brown lens meticulously coloured to match the lusciously wet and forgivably mud-smattered Yorkshire Dales.

“FLAT BEER” can be enjoyed as anguish relief. Especially if you have overdone things recently. The lenses are a strongly dehydrated shade of yellow. In the immortal words of our faithful hero Mr I. Pop : “Well, I don't use the toilet much to pee in. I almost always pee in the yard or the garden, because I like to pee on my estate.”
